What looks like a miniature version of a cold and refreshing pint is actually a sweet shot based on Licor 43 and does not contain beer at all.

Even though this tiny shot looks a lot like beer, the Mini Beer Shot are far from that. It's a fun, layered shot based on the popular Spanish liqueur Licor 43.

Often served in a tiny beer glass, the combination of cream and Licor 43 creates a delicious and nuanced shot, perfect for lovers of sweeter drinks.

What exactly is a Mini beer shot?

A Mini Beer Shot is a layered shot made with Licor 43 and heavy cream. This baby beer shot looks like the real deal but tastes completely different. It's sweet, rich, and full of vanilla flavor.

Ingredients of these Mini Beers

To make some terrific miniature beer shots, you only need two ingredients:

  • Licor 43
  • Heavy cream

Licor 43 builds the base of the drink and brings in plenty of sweet vanilla flavors. It's often paired with coffee, milk, and cream. And especially in combination with dairy products, the strong vanilla taste shines.

What is Licor 43?

Licor 43 is a vanilla-flavored liqueur from Spain. Invented by Diego Zamora in 1946, the recipe for the liqueur includes 43 different flavoring ingredients. Hence the name of the product.

The vanilla liqueur is part of many popular drinks recipes besides Mini Beer Shots. For example, in a Mexican Carajillo cocktail or Blanco 43.

Heavy cream alternatives

The standard recipe of a Mini Beer Shot contains heavy cream. But you can also use alternative products that will slightly alter the taste of the shot.

For example, Baileys Irish cream does work or another Licor 43 product called Licor 43 Horchata. The latter is inspired by the traditional Valencian Horchata recipe.

By substituting heavy cream with one of these two cream liqueurs, the final shot will be more complex and boozy, although less vanilla forward.
