Skinny Bitch cocktail

Skinny Bitch

The Skinny Bitch cocktail is a light and Vodka-based drink with fresh lime juice and chilled soda water.

If you're looking for low-calorie cocktails, the Skinny Bitch is always top of the list and the first drink that comes to mind. The simple recipe of Vodka, soda water, and a splash of fresh lime juice make this drink super refreshing and low in calories.

Actually, any spirit mixed with chilled soda water makes for a nice low-calorie cocktail as it is not Vodka that makes the difference. A Vodka with 40 percent of alcohol by volume (ABV) has a similar amount of calories as a Scotch or Bourbon of 40% ABV. Therefore, the higher the amount of alcohol in your spirit, the more calories it has. And when mixing any alcoholic beverage with soda water, which has 0 calories, you will get a beautiful diet cocktail. And Vodka is a clever fit to do just that.

How to make the best Skinny Bitch cocktail

To mix up a Skinny Bitch cocktail, you only need a few ingredients and a Highball glass. Highballs are different from traditional cocktails because, usually, they consist of only two components, only. In this case, Vodka and soda water. With a splash of freshly squeezed lime juice, you can make it even more refreshing. Alternatively, you could also add a slice of cucumber to the drink.

As with every Highball, making a perfect Skinny Bitch is all about attention to detail. Use quality Vodka as a base of the cocktail, chill the soda water upfront, and only use quality ice and fresh lime juice.

For the Vodka, my preferred choices would be Ketel One or Absolut. Both are affordable options of high quality that work great in this simple cocktail. The soda water should be super cold as the liquid will keep the carbonation for longer when it's chilled. And finally, use freshly squeezed lime juice instead of bottled or aged lime juice.

The ice cubes should be as large and see-through as possible. -The clearer the ice, the better the quality. And also, the ice will melt slower, and your drinks won't dilute that quick.

Why is it called a Skinny Bitch?

It's unknown who and when first used the term Skinny Bitch for a Vodka Soda. However, it is pretty evident that the name Skinny Bitch refers to the low amount of calories this drink has. One serving contains just over 100 calories. That's more than plain water but a lot less than most other mixed drinks.

Additionally, appearance might play a role, too, as it resembles that of water, and you can barely tell both apart by just looking at the glass. And that certainly helped in earning Voda Soda the nickname Skinny Bitch. -As opposed to Whiskey Soda with its amber color, for instance.

This fact makes it the preferred long drink of all body-conscious drinkers, especially women. And lately, in many countries, the LGBTQ+-scene also celebrates Voda Soda as one of their favorite drinks.
